Residents’ survey – carried out in Spring 2019 this established the first facts about those living in Sherford. Although anonymous the results showed how residents of the new town were on average younger than national and local average ages and positive about the development of their community. The survey can be found here: https://www.engagement.southhams.gov.uk/sherford-community-survey. It is planned to hold a similar survey every two years or so to chart the needs and views of Sherford as it develops.

Councils – these all attend regular Sherford Liaison meetings with Brookbanks and invited Sherford representatives.

Brixton Parish Council – normally meets last Wed in the month in Brixton Community Centre. All Sherford residents welcome to attend whether or not resident in the Parish area (ie pay South Hams Council Tax). Those living in the South Hams are eligible to apply at elections to be Councillors. Leads on helping Sherford develop its own Town Council. Posts information about planning applications, roads etc on the Brixton Parish Council noticeboard. Website http://www.brixtonparishcouncil.org.uk

South Hams District Council – manages the complex S106 Sherford agreement with all the Developers. Hosts regular Director level meetings with Developers. Plymouth City Council – undertakes weekly waste collection for all Sherford area. This may change in future to SHDC but residents will be advised ahead of this. Residents paying Council tax to Plymouth can contact their Council representative in Elburton Ward here: https://www.plymouth.gov.uk/

Plymouth also leads on healthcare support within Plymouth boundaries.

Devon County Council – manages roads and highways in Devon. Also liaises with Medical provision at County level, libraries and many other services. Roads in Sherford are managed by the developers for the first two years before Devon County Council adopts them. https://www.devon.gov.uk/
